Koren Townsend is a senior application administration and developer at Red Hat, where she focuses on supporting, administering, and developing training guidance for the WalkMe project. She has been with Red Hat for 8 years.
Koren is a technology industry veteran, with a combined 20 years of QA and application development experience ranging from small start-ups to the leading software company in open source technologies today, Red Hat. She helped to revamp the entire redhat.com website, implement a content management tool to support the site, and helped to deploy the learning management system (LMS) to several countries around the world. Most recently, she has been working on the Digital Adoption team to develop WalkMe implementations for Red Hat tools and products.
After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies at North Carolina State University, she started her career as a software developer and then moved into quality assurance where she went on to be a team lead and managing offshore team members. She then recently moved her career into the Digital Adoption industry.
Koren actively promotes diversity within I.T. and engineering fields. She is a founding member and on the leadership team of Red Hat’s Diversity and Inclusion communities: Vice-Chair of Blacks United In Leadership and Diversity (B.U.I.L.D.) and past co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Community – I.T. (WLC-IT) chapter. She currently serves on the leadership team as VP of Membership with Red Hat’s Toastmasters chapter, Open Voices.
Koren and her husband of 15 years, Mitchell, are raising their two sons, Brandon, 12, and Justin, 10, in Raleigh, NC. She enjoys traveling, running, crossfit, and spending time with her family. She is a member of Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she serves as the Chapter Journalist.
